Who said cupcakes are all glitter & butterflies?

A few weeks back I ran a party in Burton on Trent where a group of 7 and 11 year olds had a go at decorating cupcakes in their own individual style. I’m all for children expressing themselves through food so when a 7 year old at the party asked if he could make bogeyman cupcakes I was more than happy to supply the edible dirt (crushed oreos) and show how he could make beetles.

The 11 year old girls also showed fabulous imagination with their cakes using some of my cutters in ways I’d never have thought of before. To see other photos from the party have a look at our Facebook gallery.

Here at Apple & Thyme we now do parties for kids and teenagers. During the 2 hours they learn how decorating cupcakes and have a go themselves. The limit it their imagination. Instead of decorating cupcakes they could have a go at decorating biscuits or making cake truffles.  If there is a particular theme to the party (eg pirates, butterflies) we can incorporate it.

To find out more about our parties have a look on our main site.
